Akron Sets School, Pool, MAC and MAC Championship Record in 200 MR; Takes Lead After First Day of MAC Championship

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron swimming and diving team set a school, pool, Mid-American Conference and MAC Championship record in the 200 MR while taking first in the 800 FR to begin the 2026 MAC Championships.
Akron took a first-place lead after the first night with 80 points. Buffalo finished second with 64 points, while Ohio rounded out the top three with 62 points.
The Zips started the night with the team of Felicia Klintemare, Claire Cox, Callie Parkes and Ada Szwabinska setting numerous records in the 200 MR with a time of 1:36.22.
Akron also took gold in the 800 FR as Helena Lalkovic, Brienne Trumpower, Elle Couture and Hannah Trainer took the top time of 7:12.46.
The MAC Championships resume Thursday, February 26 at 10 a.m. with prelims.
