Akron Finishes 10th Overall, All Five Zips Finish in 70’s in Final Round of Rio Verde Invitational

Rio Verde, Ariz. – The Akron golf team elevated five places on the team leaderboard, positing a 4-over par 292 final 18-hole round as all five Akron players finished the Rio Verde Invitational in the 70's on Sunday.
Akron finished 10th in team scoring with a 312-304-292 – 908 (+44) as Maisarah Hezri fired a team-low 2-under par 70 final round. Hezri climbed 21 spots on the players' leaderboard to finish 13th overall after carding 10 par scores and six birdies. She was the Zips low scorer with a 78-74-70 - 222 (+6). She finished with 36 par scores and seven birdies.
Also finishing in the Top 20 was Sohniya Chandra Mohan, tying 18th overall with a 75-74-75 - 224 (+8). Chandra Mohan led the Zips scoring in the first 36 holes and carded a 75 (+3) with 10 par scores, two birdies and an eagle in the final round. For the tournament, she recorded 31 pars, eight birdies and an eagle.
Goethe Na Songkhla and Kaitlin Kormuth were the second and third scores on the day for Akron, respectively. Na Songkhla posted a 1-over par 73 with 13 pars and two birdies. She climbed 16 spots on the leaderboard, finishing tied for 70th overall with a 84-79-73 - 236 (+20).
Kaitlin Kormuth carded a 74 (+2) final 18-hole round score. She climbed 18 spots on the leaderboard with nine pars and four birdies. She finished the 54-hole tournament ranked 50th overall with a 77-81-74 - 232 (+16).
Hridhika Vora was the final Zips to score in the 70's, carding a 79 (+7) final round score. Vora completed the tournament 77th overall with a 82-77-79 - 238 (+22).
The Zips will be back in action on Sunday through Tuesday, March 8-10, at the Chris Banister Golf Classic hosted by Jacksonville State at Silver Lakes Golf Course.
