MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The 15th-rated University of Akron rifle squad opened the second half of its campaign battling No. 3 West Virginia on Saturday (Jan. 17) as the Mountaineers bested the Zips, 4736-4683.

Senior Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.) posted a 588 score to lead Akron in the smallbore rifle. Junior Kaleb Santiso (Ridgway, Pa.) fired his career-high score (580), while freshman Matthew Kimball (Pineville, La.) rounded out the top three for the Zips with an identical 580 total.

Paddock also paced the squad in air rifle by posting a career-high 593 total. Seniors Natalia Siek (Fleming, N.J.) (592) and Joseph Hahn (Middle Grove, N.Y.) (590) rounding out the top three.

Akron returns to competition traveling to Lexington, Ky., to battle No. 1 Kentucky on Jan. 31.
