No. 3 Akron Secures 4-0 Victory Over Western Michigan

AKRON, Ohio -Â The third-rated University of Akron men's soccer ran away with a 4-0 shutout victory past Western Michigan (1-5-0) on Tuesday (Sept. 9) at FirstEnergy Stadium.
How it Happened
Akron (5-0-1)Â opened the scoring when sophomore Jack Roman (Canfield, Ohio) notched his second goal of the season in the 17th minute (16:55) finding the back of the net from 15 yards out.
The Zips scored again on a goal from Roman, his third goal on the campaign, and first career brace, at the 19:48 mark, courtesy of assists seniors Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio) and Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio).
Akron expanded its lead to 3-0 on Dobrijevic's successful penalty kick in the 53rd-minute (52:36), his first goal of the season.
The Zips kept Western Michigan scoreless and took a 4-0 lead on the first career goal from freshman Braxton Hayes (Bowie, Md.) at the 72:12 mark. Junior Jack Sullivan (Potomac, Md.)Â assisted on the goal.
Game Notes
- Redshirt senior GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) collected one save for the Zips out of two total Broncos shots.
- The Zips outshot the Broncos on the evening, 17-2, including a 5-1 edge in shots on goal.
- The triumph marked the 150th career win at Akron for head coach Jared Embick.
- Akron matched the 2010 squad for most shutouts to open a campaign at six.
