Liptak Leads Akron in Final Round of Rio Verde Collegiate

Rio Verde, Ariz. – The Akron Zips carded a 305 (+17) final round total at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational as junior Emily Liptak led the way with a 3-over par 75 final score at the 6,024-yard Rio Verde White Wing Course on Sunday.
Liptak moved up five spots on the players' leaderboard to finish 72nd overall with a 54-hole total of 79-79-75 – 233 (+17).
Junior Maisarah Hezri led the Akron scoring over the 54-hole tournament, finishing 21st overall after a final round 76 (+4) and completing the event with a 72-75-76 – 223 (+7) total.
Junior Hridhika Vora also fired a 76 (+4) final showing at Rio Verde and finished with a 79-71-76 – 226 (+10), ranking 39th overall.
Rounding out the Zips' scoring were freshman Sohniya Chandra Mohan (+10, 82) and junior Avery Wright (+6, 78). Chandra Mohan finished 63rd overall with 72-77-82 – 231 (+15) score, while Wright was 88th with a 82-80-78 – 240 (+24) total.
For the tournament, Akron finished with a 304-304-307 – 909 (+45) to finish 11th overall in the 21-team field as California Baptist (E, 283-296-285 – 864) claimed the top spot followed by Illinois State (+1, 289-294-282 – 865) and Xavier (+5, 292-284-293 – 869).
The Zips will return to action on Monday and Tuesday, March 24-25 at Rivermont Golf Club hosted by Georgia State in Johns Creek, Ga.
