Akron Climbs Two Spots, Vora Fires 1-under at Rio Verde Collegiate

Rio Verde, Ariz. – The Akron Zips golf team fired a second 302 (+14) total to move into 9th overall among a 21-team field at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational on Saturday.
The Zips scoring was led by junior Hridhika Vora with a 1-under par 71 ledger. She carded six birdies with seven par scores. Vora registered an opening round 79 (+7) for a 150 (+6) tournament total after 36 holes. Vora is currently tied for 29th overall.
Junior Maisarah Hezri followed in scoring for Akron with a 75 (+3). She posted an even par score to open the tournament and currently stands 14th overall with a 3-over par 147 total.
Freshman Sohniya Chandra Mohan also carded an even par opening round and added a 77 (+5) second round performance to land 23rd overall, while juniors Emily Liptak (+7, 79) and Avery Wright (+8, 80) rounded out the scoring for the Zips.
The final round is scheduled for a shotgun start on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 12:30 p.m. ET with Hezri (7A), Chandra Mohan (8), Liptak (9A), Vora (9B) and Wright (10).
All 54 holes will be played on the 6,024-yard par 72 Rio Verde White Wing Course. Fans can follow the action live at Scoreboard powered by Clippd.
