No. 22 Akron Earns 0-0 Draw at No. 13 Cornell

ITHACA, N.Y. – The 22nd-rated University of Akron men's soccer team garnered a 0-0 draw at No. 13 Cornell on Tuesday (Oct. 7)
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Zips came out on the offensive in the opening half and posted a 7-4 edge in shots, including 2-1 on goal. Akron was unable to turn one of those strikes in a goal over the opening 45 minutes and entered the intermission locked in a scoreless draw.
The Big Red came out to open the second half and registered an 11-6 margin in shots, including 4-1 on frame.
Neither side was able to find the back of the net before the Zips were whistled for a foul in the box in the 81st minute (80:59) that resulted in a penalty kick. Redshirt senior GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) was up to the task denying the penalty kick with a successful save to give Akron a chance at the equalizer.
The game-winning tally didn't come for either team as the match concluded with the 0-0 draw.
GAME NOTES
• Senior Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio) posted a game-high five shots in the contest.
• Budler collected five saves in the match for Akron.
