Men's Basketball Ranked No. 7 in College Insider Mid-Major Top-25 Preseason Poll

BOSTON, Mass. - The Akron men's basketball program was ranked No. 7 in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Preseason Poll, as announced on Monday, October 27.
The Zips are coming off a 2024-25 season that saw them win a program record 28 games while making the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season and winning the Mid-American Conference Regular Season title.
Akron concluded the 2024-25 season ranked No. 10 in the Mid-Major Top-25 Poll, and has been ranked No. 2 as recently as the 2023-24 season.
The Zips were recently selected to finish first in the 2025-26 MAC Preseason Coaches Poll, while Tavari Johnson, Shammah Scott and Evan Mahaffey all earned Preseason All-MAC honors.
Akron begins the 2025-26 season hosting James Madison at James A. Rhodes Arena on November 3 in the first round of the MAC-SBC Challenge.

Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field (located at 375 E. Exchange Street) is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET on Mondays through Fridays.
