Zips Fall to CMU to Conclude Series

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. --The Akron volleyball team could not overcome a potent Chippewas offense Saturday,  to Central Michigan in straight sets (21-25, 23-25, 22-25).
Delaney Gash finished with nine kills on the day to lead the Zips offense. Akron got 12 digs from Vanessa Del Real along with five blocks from Lyndi Wolf to lead them defensively. Masa Prascevic came close to recording her first collegiate double-double with a 12 assists, seven dig performance.Â
The loss dropped Akron's record to 9-11 overall and 2-7 in MAC play.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips found themselves in an early deficit, dropping the first set 25-21. Central Michigan grabbed the advantage for good at 19-18 in a set that was tied up nine times before the Chippewas took over in the second half of the stanza.
SET 2 | Akron then lost set two 25-23 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. The Zips dropped set two in spite of a strong performance on the attacking end. Akron put together a .382 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set loss.
SET 3 | Akron was not able to win the third set and was swept by Central Michigan. The Zips came up short by the score of 25-22. Central Michigan grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 in a set that was tied up just once before the Chippewas took over the lead.

Akron returns to James A. Rhodes Arena to host Northern Illinois for a pair of conference games on October 24 and 25.
