Akron Men's Soccer Hosts First of Two Home Exhibition Matches

AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's soccer team under 12th-year head coach Jared Embick will play the first of two home exhibition contests as the Zips host Michigan in a 7 p.m. tilt at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday, Aug. 11.

Tickets for the contest against the Wolverines are available for purchase at www.GoZips.com/Tickets. Fans are asked to park in Lots 6, 9 and 10 surrounding InfoCision Stadium and the Stile Athletics Field House. For complete parking information click here.

There will be no video or live stats for the exhibition match versus the Wolverines.

Akron is set to return six starters in 2024, including 2023 All-BIG EAST Conference performers, seniors Jonas Buechte (Rantigen, Germany) and Malik Henry (Hamilton, Ontario).

The Zips will also be bolstered by the return of key 2023 contributors in redshirt junior Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.), redshirt senior Dyson Clapier Layton, Utah), juniors Stefan Dobrijevic (Uniontown, Ohio), Ashton Kamdem (West Chester, Ohio) and Daragh Reilly (Meath, Ireland) and senior Wan Kuzri Wan Kamal (Carbondale, Ill.).

Akron will kick off its 70th season of intercollegiate men's soccer traveling to 2024 NCAA College Cup finalist Notre Dame on Aug. 22 for a non-conference showdown with the Fighting Irish. The home opener for the Zips will see Akron battle Ohio State on Aug. 25.

Akron concludes its exhibition campaign on Friday, Aug. 16, as the Zips battle Pittsburgh in a 7 p.m. contest at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The University of Akron Athletics Department announced its transition to cashless payments for all ticketing, concessions, and merchandise purchases at all Akron athletic venues, concession stands, and gear shops, beginning with the start of the 2024-25 sports seasons.
