Sammy Hunter to Play for The Bahamas National Team

AKRON, Ohio - Former Akron Zip Sammy Hunter will be eyeing a chance to be an Olympian as he represents the Bahamas National Men's Basketball team in the Acropolis Tournament in Greece on June 26 and 27.
The Bahamas will face off against Montenegro first on June 26 and then the national team will take on the host country on June 27.
After the pair of games in Greece, the Bohemian National Team will travel to Valencia, Spain for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament from July 2-7.
This will be one of four 2024 FIBA Men's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. Six teams will participate in two groups of three teams, where the first and second-placed teams qualify for the semifinals. The winner of the tournament will advance to the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Playing two seasons at Akron while being named a 2023-24 Mid-American Conference champion, Hunter played in 67 games and started 55. He averaged 8.8 points per game, recorded a .369 average from beyond the ark and cashed in over 100 3-point field goals during his time as a Zip.
