Akron Trio Set to Compete at United States Olympic Track and Field Trials

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron Track and Field program will be represented by a pair of former NCAA Champions along with current All-American Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) when the United States Track and Field Olympic Team Trials get underway at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon beginning on Friday, June 21.
The two-week competition will run from Friday, June 21 through June 30 with former Zips Matt Ludwig, a 2020 Olympian, and Garretson competing in the men's pole vault beginning on Friday (June 21). Starting on Thursday (June 27), 2016 Olympic Bronze Medalist (800m) and 2020 Olympian Clayton Murphy will commence competition in the 800 meters.
The top-three finishers in the championship round of their respective event will qualify to compete at the Summer Olympics (July 26 – Aug. 11) in Paris, France.
