LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Akron track and field team culminated its performances at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Friday (May 24) directed by the efforts of sophomore Brian Masai (Kitale, Kenya) and redshirt sophomore Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Masai ran a time of 14:00.23 in the men's 5,000 meters, a performance that fell just short of earning a qualifying berth to the NCAA Championships.
• Wendl posted a qualifying mark of 163-5 (49.82m) in the men's discus.
UP NEXT
The Zips culminated their 2023-24 campaign with the conclusion of the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
