NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team earned a pair of victories as part of 10 overall top-five performances at the Walsh Tune-Up Invitational on Wednesday and Thursday (April 24-25).

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Redshirt sophomore Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) captured the men's shot put with a career-best mark of 55-4.75 (16.88m), while also besting the field in the men's discus with a mark of 169-4 (51.63m).
• Redshirt senior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed second in the men's hammer with a mark of 200-3 (61.05m).
• Redshirt sophomore Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) finished second in the women's discus with a career-best mark of 135-8 (41.37m), while also garnering runner-up honors in the women's shot put with a throw of 42-8 (13.00m).
• Redshirt junior Davis Hedrick (Norwalk, Ohio) placed second in the men's discus with a mark of 168-3 (51.29m).
• Freshman Victoria Kuol (Centerville, Ohio) finished third in the women's hammer with a career-best throw of 168-10 (51.48m).
