Jared Schaeffer Named MAC Pitcher of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio -Â Â University of Akron pitcher Jared Schaeffer was named the Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Throwing his first career complete game, Schaeffer helped lead the Akron Zips to a 7-2 victory over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, April 20.
The Sophomore righty went the full nine innings where he allowed just two unearned runs, none earned, walking none, allowing nine hits while tying his season-high for strikeouts with six k's against the Eagles.
Schaeffer becomes the second Zip to earn a weekly award, as Sean Perkins was named Pitcher of the Week earlier in the season.
The Zips travel to Youngstown State on Wednesday, April 24 before returning home to host Western Michigan for a MAC series starting on Friday, April 26.
