AZUSA, Calif. – The University of Akron track and field team garnered a trio of career-best performances to highlight second-day competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific on Friday (April 12).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Freshman Megan Hipple (Warren, Ohio) recorded a career-best time of 16:57.46 in the women's 5,000 meters.
• Freshman Mary Munga (Nyandarua, Kenya) and redshirt senior Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) each posted career-best times in the women's 800 meters crossing the line in 2:08.62 and 2:09.80, respectively.
• Sophomore Brian Masai (Kitale, Kenya) posted a season-best time of 14:03.77 in the men's 5,000 meters.
• Freshman Sharon Chepchirchir (Kapsabet, Kenya) recorded the third-fastest time in outdoor program history crossing the line in the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 16:34.80.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – University of Akron track and field redshirt junior Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) posted a season-best time of 51.13 to headline the Zips' efforts at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational hosted by Florida on Friday (April 12).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Redshirt junior Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) posted a season-best time of 51.13 to place 16th in the invitational finals of the men's 400-meter hurdles.

TIFFIN, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team registered a pair of victories as part of five overall top-five performances on the opening day of the Tiffin Track Carnival on Friday (April 12).
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Sophomore Josiah Cox (New Franklin, Ohio) won the men's shot put with a mark of 53-11 (16.43m), while redshirt sophomore Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) placed second with a throw of 53-0.25 (16.16m).
• Redshirt senior Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed second in the men's hammer with a mark of 209-7.75 (63.90m).
• Redshirt sophomore Gabrielle Griffiths (Fort Worth, Texas) recorded a mark of 42-3.25 (12.88m) to win the women's shot put.
