Freeman Named to 2023-24 Oscar Robertson Trophy and All-America Watch List

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected 40 standout men's college basketball players for its 2023-24 Oscar Robertson Trophy and All-America Watch List on Tuesday, February 27, with Akron's Enrique Freeman among the lucky few.
Members of the association's board of directors chose the players that will be considered as contenders for the National Player of the Year.
Freeman is also among the 10 finalists for the Karl Malone Award. The annual honor is in its tenth year and recognizes the top power forwards in Division I men's college basketball.
He has been named the Mid-American Conference's Player of the Week eight times this season while leading the nation in double-doubles (24) and rebounds per game (13.0). He is 1-of-14 players in Div. I to average a double-double and has recorded 20+ points and 10+ rebounds 12 times. Freeman recorded 11 consecutive double-doubles from Nov. 28 to Jan. 16 and has recorded nine straight since Jan. 23. He is also 1st in the country in total rebounds (339), 2nd in defensive rebounds per game (9.41), and 17th in offensive rebounds per game (3.59).
The Oscar Robertson Trophy winner is to be announced at the NCAA Men's Final Four in Glendale, Ariz., from April 6-8. The formal presentation of the trophy will follow at the annual USBWA Awards Luncheon hosted by the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
Since the 1958-59 season, the USBWA has been named a National Player of the Year. In 1998, the award was named in honor of the University of Cincinnati Hall of Famer and two-time USBWA Player of the Year Oscar Robertson.
