Zips Fall to No. 11 Ohio State and Kentucky on Saturday

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Akron Swimming and Diving team fell to No. 11 Ohio State and Kentucky on the campus of Ohio State on Saturday.
Akron fell 224-74 against Ohio State and 172.50-127.50 against Kentucky.
Akron began the day by finishing third in the 200-yard medley relay as Madelyn Gatrall (25.61), Claire Cox (28.76), Abigail Daniel (25.54) and Aislinn Holder (22.96) finished with a time of 1:42.87.
Elle Couture swam the fastest time for Akron in the 1000-yard free with a time of 10:23.05 while Felicia Klintemar paced the Zips in the 200-yard free with a time of 1:53.77.
Claire Cox finished sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.90
Gatrall placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 55.07 while Daniel finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:01.17.
In the 50-yard free, Ada Szwabinska placed fourth with a time of 23.60 and fifth in the 100-yard free with a time of 51.85.
Gatrall paced the Zips in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.31 while Madelyn Bosler led Akron in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:21.88.
The 500-yard free featured Couture finishing with a time of 4:58.02 for fourth place while Callie Parkes finished third in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.69.
The 400-yard IM saw Kendall Craig finish with a time of 4:34.30.
In the 400-yard free relay, Akron's "Z" team of Szwabinska (51.65), Gatrall (51.57), Rebecca Reid (51.67) and Klintemar (52.01) finished first while the "P" team of Helena Lalkovic (53.61), Parkes (53.28), Couture (54.77) and Alanis Santiago (53.75) finished third.
McKenzie Dunigan led the Blue and Gold in the three-meter diving with a score of 246.45 while Elizabeth Noble led the Zips in the one-meter dive with a score of 244.40.
What's Next?
The Zips return to the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium to host Bowling Green on November 1 for a 6 p.m. start.
