Budler and Jaaskelainen Earn TDS National Team of the Week Honors

TDS MEN'S SOCCER NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK (OCT. 1)
AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's soccer redshirt junior Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) has been named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Men's Soccer National Team of the Week; it was unveiled on Tuesday (Oct. 1).

Additionally, redshirt senior Emil Jaaskelainen (Bolton, England) was recognized as an Honorable Mention selection to this week's squad, while the Jaaskelainen and Budler were also named the BIG EAST Conference Offensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week.

Facing 25 shots on the week, including 10 on goal, Budler didn't concede a goal en route to posting a pair of clean sheets.

Budler was impressive in Akron's 1-0 win against Georgetown on Saturday (Sept. 28) posting six saves, including a pair of diving game-saving stops in the second half to preserve the Zips' victory.

On the season, Budler owns 26 saves on the strength of a 1.30 GAA, .667 save percentage and three shutouts.

Jaaskelainen led the Zips a week ago in goals (3), points (8), shots (7), shots on goal (4) and game-winners (1), while ranking second in assists (2).

He capped his week recording an assist on senior Malik Henry's (Hamilton, Ontario) game-winner in the 52nd minute in a 1-0 victory at Georgetown on Saturday (Sept. 28) en route to tallying a team-high two shots in the match. It marked Akron's first-ever BIG EAST road win.

On the strength of a game-high five shots (four on goal), Jaaskelainen opened the week registering his third multi-goal game of the season and first hat trick as a Zip with a three-goal effort in a win over Saint Francis on Tuesday (Sept. 24). Additionally, he garnered an assist on freshman Remi Agunbiade's (Toronto, Ontario) goal in the 32nd minute (31:34).

On the season, he owns team-high marks in goals (8), assists (6), points (22), shots (44), shots on goal (20) and game-winners (2).
