AUSTIN, Texas – University of Akron freshman Brian Masai (Kitale, Kenya) earned Honorable Mention All-America accolades in the men's 5,000 meters on the third night of the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Texas on Friday (June 9).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Masai became Akron's first distance runner to earn outdoor All-America honors in the 5,000 meters crossing the line in 14:49.31 to place 23rd.
• As a team, the Zips placed 30th eight points and placed ahead of 20 Power Five schools that recorded at least a point at the NCAA Championships.

Hammer: William Gross (16th-221-3/67.45m); Pole Vault: Hunter Garretson (2nd-18-8.25/5.70m)

400 Meters: Charles Sanders (23rd-46.71)
