CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Akron baseball team earned nine selections when the Mid-American Conference released its 2023 Baseball Academic All-MAC Team on Friday, June 9.

In all, 111 student-athletes from 11 conference institutions were honored including Akron's nine members: graduate IF Nick Arrivo (Ann Arbor, Mich.), senior IF Kaito Hara (Houston, Texas), juniors P Brady Biglin (Crestline, Ohio), IF Max Bowman (Gahanna, Ohio), IF Breydan Cavey (Medina, Ohio), P Brett Dietrich (Goshen, Ohio), P Yassir Kahook (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), OF Sammy Tortorella (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and sophomore OF Ian Pennington (Springboro, Ohio).

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. Freshman and first-year transfers are not eligible
