MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The University of Akron lacrosse team garnered a trio of goals from senior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.), but the Zips were unable to overcome defending Mid-American Conference Champion Central Michigan in a 21-9 setback on Saturday, April 8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• A high-scoring opening quarter resulted in a trio of goals in the period for the Zips from sophomore Graceann Schwab (Rochester, N.Y.), freshman Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and Kiefer at the 11:32, 9:35 and 9:24 marks, respectively.
• Akron added four tallies in the second quarter as Kiefer netted a pair of goals at the 11:44 and 3:54 marks, while freshmen Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.) and Sarah Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) found the back of the net at the 9:57 and 7:30 marks.
• Schwab and freshman Kellen Fletcher (Valencia, Pa.) capped the scoring for Akron with goals at the 6:46 and 2:57 marks of the fourth quarter, respectively.
• Freshman GK Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) recorded 10 saves in net for the Zips.
