AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron lacrosse team fell behind early and was not able to overcome its deficit as Youngstown State posted an 18-7 triumph past the Zips on Wednesday evening at the Stile Athletics Field House.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Zips garnered a pair of first-half goals senior Sarah Pattison (Cincinnati, Ohio), who later tallied an assist on a fourth-quarter tally from freshman Macy Vail (Joppatowne, Md.).
• Junior Mackenzie Kirwan (Appleton, Wis.) collected her first goal of the season with nine seconds remaining in the third quarter.
• The Zips registered four goals in the fourth quarter courtesy of senior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.), freshman Katie Baumer (Rochester, N.Y.) and a pair of tallies from Vail.
• Freshman GK Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and sophomore GK Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) combined to record four saves in net for the Zips.

Akron travels to Mount Pleasant, Mich., for a showdown with Central Michigan on Saturday, April 8 at 12 p.m.
