Lacrosse Opens Home Campaign Hosting Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian

AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team is set to open its home campaign as the Zips commence a four-match homestand with a pair of contests versus Gardner-Webb and Presbyterian.

Akron will battle the Bulldogs on Sunday, March 12 at 1:30 p.m. inside the Stile Athletics Field House before hosting the Blue Hose in a 5 p.m. tilt on Tuesday, March 14 at 7:30 p.m. at Stile Athletics Field House.
SCOUTING AKRON:
Senior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) and junior Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), who have posted 28 and 18 shots, respectively, headline Akron's offensive efforts this season. Boyd, Kiefer and senior Kaija Kunttu (Zionsville, Ind.), have recorded a team-high 11, seven and six goals, respectively, while Kiefer has registered team-best marks in goals (11), points (12), shots (28), shots on goal (25), draw controls (21) and caused turnovers (3). Freshman GK Kylan Rhude (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and sophomore GK Hannah Sanders (Massillon, Ohio) have combined to turn in 29 saves for Akron on the year.

Kiefer rated third in the MAC in goals per game (2.75), shots per outing (7.00) and draw controls per outing (5.25) and seventh in points per contest (3.00). Boyd ranks ninth in shots per tilt (4.50), seventh in points per contest (3.00) and ninth in goals per game (1.75), while Kunttu is seventh in goals per game (3.00).

Additionally, sophomore Kylie Harris (Lake Norman, N.C.) is seventh in draw controls per game (3.00) and 10th in assists per contest (0.75) and senior Jenna Ridener (Cincinnati, Ohio) is ninth in caused turnovers per contest (1.25). Rhude is first in goals against average (5.80) and save percentage (.576), third in ground balls per contest (3.00) and seventh in saves per game (6.33).

Akron is squaring off against Gardner-Webb for the fourth in program history. The Bulldogs are 0-6 on the campaign following a 14-8 setback versus Robert Morris on Wednesday, March 8. Bria Foley directs the Gardner-Webb offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (8), points (10), shots (25) and shots on goal (18) while ranking second in assists (2) and draw controls (13). Goalkeeper Danielle Burke has collected 42 saves on the campaign for the Bulldogs. Gardner-Webb is led by interim head coach Maddie Martin, who owns a 0-6 ledger as a head coach for the Bulldogs.

SCOUTING PRESBYTERIAN:Akron is squaring off against Presbyterian for the fourth in program history. The Blue Hose own a 1-3 record on the campaign following a 14-11 setback versus Xavier on Saturday, March 4. Abby Edmisten directs the Presbyteriam offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (9), assists (5), points (14) and shots on goal (17) while ranking third in shots (21). Goalkeeper Lilly Phillips has collected 31 saves on the campaign for the Blue Hose. Presbyterian is led by fourth-year head coach Eric Clakeley, who owns a 9-33 ledger as a head coach for the Blue Hose.

Alexis Kiefer is ranked eighth in the NCAA in shots on goal per game (6.25), 25th in shots per contest (7.00) and 43rd in draw controls per tilt (5.25).
