Akron's Shokalook Named BIG EAST Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year

ALL-BIG EAST MEN'S SOCCER POSTSEASON AWARDS RELEASE
NEW YORK – University of Akron junior Jason Shokalook (Erie, Pa.) has been selected as the 2023 BIG EAST Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year in a vote of the league coaches released on Tuesday, Nov. 7.
Shokalook becomes the 13th Zip to garner league Player of the Year accolades and first since Adam Najem was named the conference's best player in 2016.
Shokalook, a unanimous first-team All-BIG EAST honoree, has started all 17 games he has appeared in for Akron this season, owning team-high marks in goals (10), points (21), shots (52), shots on goal (26) and game-winners (2).
Shokalook ranks first in the BIG EAST in goals (0.88), points (2.06) and shots (5.06) per game as well as leading the league in total goals (14), shots (81) and points (33) and rating ninth in assists (5). In league-only affairs, Shokalook led the BIG EAST in total shots (43), as well as shots (5.38) per contest, while standing second in total goals (6), total points (15) and goals (0.75) and points (1.88) per contest and seventh in assists per tilt (0.43).
During his decorated Akron career he has appeared in 60 career tilts, including making 42 starts and has recorded 28 goals, while adding 18 assists and ranks 14th among active Division I career leaders in points per game (1.23), 17th in total points (74), 19th in total goals (28), 21st in goals per match (0.47) and 35th in total assists (18).
Individually, Shokalook is first in the NCAA in total points (33), second in shots per outing (4.88) and in shots on goal per match (2.41), third in total goals (14), fourth in points per tilt (1.94), fifth in goals per game (0.82) and 38th in game-winning goals (3).
