Akron Lacrosse Unveils Talented Signing Class

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron lacrosse squad under the leadership of first-year head coach Elaine Jones, has added a talented 12-member newcomer class that will hit the field for the Zips during the 2025 campaign.
Donning the Akron uniform in the spring of 2025 will be Sydnie Bolger (Eldersburg, Md.), Adrianna Califano (Bellmore, N.Y.), Katelyn Chevarie (Liominster, Mass.), Keira Fontaine (Lido Beach, N.Y.), Kayli Grant (Oak Lawn, Ill.), Olivia Lodge (Norwood, Mass.), Julia Mattingly (Leonardstown, Md.), Kayla Murphy (Annapolis, Md.), Megan Singer (Hamburg, N.Y.), Lauren Vitantonio (Independence, Ohio), Cameron Volpe (Newton, N.J.) and Avery Wallace (Eden Prairie, Minn.).
"I'm thrilled to announce the signing of these 12 talented student-athletes," said Jones. "With this class, on the field, we've added strength, speed, and lax IQ, as well as a high level of tenacity and competitiveness in all positions. Off the field, their commitment to striving for academic success will mesh well with the culture already in place with our current team. I look forward to the unique personalities and qualities they'll bring to our program as we build for a successful future and I'm excited to add them to our Akron Lacrosse family."
A native of Eldersburg, Md., Bolger, a defender, is a three-year letterwinner from Liberty High School where he has helped lead her squad to three straight 1A state championships.
A native of Bellmore, N.Y., Califano, a goalkeeper, is a three-year letterwinner from John F. Kennedy High School where she has helped direct her squad to conference titles as freshman and junior. A two-time all-conference selection, she has posted 400 saves during her prep career.
A native of Liominster, Mass., Chevarie, a defender, is a three-year letterwinner from the Winchendon School. She garnered all-conference accolades as a sophomore.
A native of Lido Beach, N.Y., Fontaine, an attacker, is a three-year letterwinner from Long Beach High School. She helped lead her team to a pair of county finalist appearances as sophomore and junior.
A native of Oak Lawn, Ill., Grant, a defender, is a three-year letterwinner from Marist High School. An honorable mention all-state selection as a junior, where she helped her squad to a conference and sectional title. A two-time all-conference recipient, she earned all-sectional honors as a junior a year ago.
A native of Norwood, Mass., Lodge, an attacker, is a three-year letterwinner from Norwood High School where he has netted 143 career goals during her prep career. She has twice garnered all-conference and team Most Valuable Player accolades.
A native of Leonardstown, Md., Mattingly, a midfielder, is a three-year letterwinner from Leonardstown High School where she led her squad to a pair of league titles and regional and state finals appearance. A two-time team captain, she has tallied 68 goals, 134 draw controls and 101 ground balls during her prep career. A two-time all-conference selection, she earned Outstanding Player Award as sophomore and junior and was honored as the IWLCA President's Cup Player of the Match in 2023.
A native of Annapolis, Md., Murphy, a defender, is a two-year letterwinner from Archbishop Spalding High School.
A native of Hamburg, N.Y., Singer, a midfielder, a three-year letterwinner from Frontier High School where he has registered 75 goals, 30 assists and 65 ground balls during her prep career. A three-time all-conference performer, she has twice been honored as an All-Western New York selection. She has twice led her squad to Section 6 Class B titles as freshman and sophomore after posting a combined 31-3 record.
A native of Independence, Ohio, Vitantonio, an attacker, is a two-time all-conference selection at Walsh Jesuit High School where she has posted 93 goals, 39 assists and 83 ground balls during her prep career. She tallied 54 goals, 20 assists and 32 ground balls as a junior en route to earning first-team all-region and all-conference accolades. Garnered 34 goals, 16 assists and 41 ground balls as a sophomore and was tabbed a second-team all-conference selection.
A native of Newton, N.J., Volpe, a midfielder, arrives is a three-time letterwinner at Freedom West High School where she has tallied 73 goals, 29 assists, 102 draw controls, 89 ground balls and 43 forced turnovers during her prep career. A two-time first-team all-conference honoree, she helped her squad capture a divisional championship as a sophomore.
A native of Eden Prairie, Minn., Wallace, a midfielder, is a three-year letterwinner from Eden Prairie High School where she has tallied 51 goals, 28 assists, 151 draw controls and 60 ground balls during her prep career. An all-state honoree as a junior, she has twice earned all-conference accolades and led her team to a sectional title as a freshman.
