Zips Drop Final Match 0-3 to Buffalo

AKRON, OH --The Akron volleyball team fell to the Buffalo Bulls 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 21-25) Wednesday at home at James A Rhodes Arena.
Akron finishes the season with a 13-16 overall record and a 8-10 mark against conference opponents. Buffalo finishes the regular season 23-7 and 13-5 in the MAC as they advance to the MAC tournament this weekend.Â
Faith Johnson finished with 14 kills on the day to lead the Zips attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .300. Akron. got eight digs from Lauren Baker to lead them defensively. Eliska Vytiskova surpassed 1,000 assists in her freshman campaign during the match.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Zips fell behind early, losing the first set 25-21. Buffalo grabbed the advantage for good at 3-2 in a set that was knotted up five times before the Bulls took control.
SET 2 | Akron then dropped set two 25-17 to fall behind in the match two sets to none. Akron trailed by as many as eight points as Buffalo grabbed the advantage for good at 12-11 in a set that was knotted up four times before the Bulls took the stanza.
SET 3 | Buffalo finished the sweep with a third-set win. The Zips couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth battle, losing 25-21 in a set that featured four lead changes and was tied six times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.
