AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron men's soccer team and Marquette played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday (Oct. 21) at home at FirstEnergy Stadium on Senior Night.
How it Happened
Akron broke the scoreless match when junior Jason Shokalook (Erie, Pa.) connected on his 14th goal of the season finding the back of the net on a header in the 12th minute.
The Golden Eagles leveled the game on a own goal in the 17th minute.
Game Notes
- Redshirt sophomore GK Mitch Budler (Lincoln, Neb.) totaled four saves for the Zips out of eight total Golden Eagles shots.
- Akron outshot Marquette, 20-7, including registering seven shots on goal.
- The Zips honored seven graduating seniors prior to the game in Senior Night festivities as Johnny Fitzgerald (Tallahassee, Fla.), Josh Hallenberger (San Antonio, Texas), Will Jackson (Hudson, Ohio), Josef Paulus (Hinckley, Ohio), Joel Sangwa (Phoenix, Ariz.), Sam Tojaga (Erie, Pa.) and Alejandro Varela (A Coruna, Spain) were recognized before their final regular season home games.
