DeKalb, Ill. – The Akron volleyball team opened Mid-American Conference play on the road at Northern Illinois as the Huskies posted a .402 team hitting percentage for a 3-0 (9-25, 17-25, 17-25) win at Victor E. Court on Friday night.

Teagan Ochaya led the Zips' offensive attack with eight kills followed by Karleighana Jones, Faith Johnson, Ellen Kinnaird and Chloe Werner with three kills each. Lauren Latka anchored the defense for the Zips with 10 digs, while Jayda Young posted a team-best two blocks.

Charli Atiemo and Brianna Scuric led the Huskies offense with 11 kills each, hitting .588 and .450, respectively. The defense recorded seven total blocks compared to the Zips three total stops. Sammi Lockwood and Emily Dykes registered four block assists each.
