2022 Akron Volleyball Schedule

AKRON, Ohio- The Akron volleyball coach Tyson Norton announced the team's 2022 schedule on Tuesday.

The Zips' 29-match regular season slate features 13 home contests at the JAR. The regular season opens on Friday, Aug. 26 as the Zips compete in the Top Dawg Challenge hosted by Butler. Akron will face Eastern Illinois on the opening day of the tournament, followed by closing the tournament on Saturday, Aug. 27 with Oakland and Butler. Akron will return to the road Sept. 2-3 as the Zips will face Iona, Seton Hall, and George Mason in the Seton Hall Invite.

The home schedule begins by hosting the annual Akron Invite on Sept. 8-10. The Zips open with Cleveland State on Sept. 8 a 6 p.m., followed by closing the tournament on Sept. 9 with Valparaiso at 6 p.m. and Morgan State on Sept. 10 at noon.

Akron will host Youngstown State on Sept. 15 a 6 p.m. before closing out the non-conference schedule at Cleveland State on Sept. 16 at 6 p.m.

The Zips will begin conference play by traveling to Northern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 23 and Saturday, Sept. 24. The 18- match MAC schedule consists of two matches against each of the other East Division schools, as well at Toledo and Ball State. The Zips will play the remaining four West Division schools once.

Notable home contests include a series with Western Michigan starting on Friday, Sept. 30 at 6 p.m., followed by Saturday, Oct. 1 a 4 p.m. Akron will host Ohio on Friday, Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. and close out the series on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.

The Zips will be on the road for the Crystal Clinic Wagon Wheel Challenge matches with rival Kent State on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15. Home matches against Central Michigan (Oct.28) and Eastern Michigan (Oct. 29) will close out the home schedule for October.

The Zips will open November on the road at Bowling Green Nov. 4-5, before closing out the home schedule with Miami on Friday, Nov. 11 and Saturday, Nov. 12.

The regular season will come to an end at Buffalo on Wednesday, Nov. 16 with the MAC Tournament slated for Nov. 21-23 and will be hosted by the highest seeded team.
