EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Akron track and field freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) capped a successful outdoor campaign competing for the Zips in the men's pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Historic Hayward Field on Wednesday, June 8.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After passing on the opening two heights, 16-4.75 (5.00m) and16-10.75 (5.15m), Garretson jumped into the competition at 17-4.50 (5.30m). He narrowly missed clearing the bar on his initial attempt at 17-4.50 (5.30m), before coming up short on his second and third runs at the height.
UP NEXT:
Garretson and the Zips concluded a highly successful 2022 outdoor campaign, one that saw Akron capture a pair of women's Mid-American Conference Championships as well as 23 combined men's and women's league titles.
