CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron track and field senior Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) and junior Jacqueline Pokuaah (Kumasi, Ghana) were honored by the Mid-American Conference as its 2022 Outdoor Track and Field Men's and Women's Most Outstanding Field Performers of the Year, the league unveiled on Wednesday, May 18.
Eldesouky captured his sixth career MAC title, including his fourth in the men's triple jump besting the field with a mark of 52-4.75 (15.97m), while also placing third in the men's long jump with a mark of 23-10.25 (7.27m). He owns the No. 24 mark in the NCAA this season in the triple jump with a mark of 52-4.75 (15.97m) set at the MAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Pokuaah claimed a pair of league titles winning the women's long jump and triple jump with marks of 20-2.25 (6.15m) and 42-6.75 (12.97m), while running the anchor leg of the runner-up 4x100 relay squad. She owns the No. 12 mark in the NCAA this season in the triple jump with a school-record mark of 44-4.75 (13.53m) at the Texas Relays.
Pokuaah becomes the first Zip to capture both the women's long jump and triple jump in the same outdoor championship in program history and was rewarded with her selection at the MAC's Women's Most Outstanding Field Performer of the Year.
