ASHLAND, Ohio -Â The University of Akron track and field recorded 21 victories as part of 45 top-three finishes to cap a successful day of performances at the Northeast Ohio Tri-Meet hosted by Ashland University on Saturday, April 2.

The Zips bested the field in both the men's and women's team competitions. Akron won the men's field with 144 points, with Ashland (97) and Kent State (72) following the Zips, while the Akron women triumphed with 143 points and were followed by Kent State (107) and Ashland (100).

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sophomore Dimitrije Novakovic (Belgrade, Serbia) was a double-winner for the Zips triumphing in the men's long jump and triple jump with marks of 23-0.75 (7.03m) and 45-7.75 (13.91m), respectively.
• Junior Amya Clarke (Christchurch, St. Kitts and Nevis) was a double-winner for Akron capturing the women's 100 and 200 meters in times of 11.73 and 25.13, respectively.
• Freshman Fegor Clifford (Delta State, Nigeria) finished first in the women's 400-meter hurdles in a time of 60.56, while also triumphing in the women's triple jump with a mark of 39-1.75 (11.93m).
• Freshman Abby Knouff (Tallmadge, Ohio) took the title in the women's pole vault eclipsing 13-5.50 (4.05m) as well as the women's long jump with a mark of 17-5.25 (5.31m).
• Sophomore Zarik Brown (Dayton, Ohio) captured the men's 400 meters in a time of 46.85, while also helping the 4x400 relay squad of freshmen Jimmy Harkelroad (Huron, Ohio) and Jean Dieuvil (North Miami Beach, Fla.), sophomore Blake Lucius (Crestline, Ohio) win the event in 3:20.57.
• Senior Jacob Ondash (Hiram, Ohio) bested the field in the men's 800 meters in a time of 1:51.59.
• Freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) eclipsed 17-5.50 (5.32m) to win the men's pole vault.
• Redshirt sophomore Avalonn Harper (Wooster, Ohio) jumped 6-4.75 (1.95m) to finish first in the men's high jump.
• Senior Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio) won the women's 1,500 meters in a time of 4:33.41.
• Freshman Danielle Honaker (Ashland, Ohio) captured the women's 3,000 meters crossing the line in 10:22.54.
• The women's 4x400 relay team of freshman Janay Bass (Akron, Ohio), senior Varvara Lissichkina (Karaganda, Kazahkstan), sophomore Makenna Heimlich (Shelby, Ohio) and Clifford won the event in 3:51.49, while the 4x100 relay squad of freshman Adaeze Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria), Clarke, Bass and Clifford crossed the line first in 46.65.
• Senior Blake High (Cambridge, Ohio) won the men's javelin with a mark of 161-1 (49.10m).
• Redshirt sophomore Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Pa.) capped the evening winning the women's javelin with a mark of 139-1 (42.40m).
