SAN MARCOS, Texas - The University of Akron track and field redshirt sophomore Laurel Bristow (Pittsburgh, Pa.) bested the field in the women's javelin registering a season-best mark of 150-4 (45.83m) to highlight the Zips' efforts on the opening night of the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State on Thursday, March 24.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Freshman Jacob Glavickas (Orwell, Ohio) and sophomore Robert Artrip (Independence, Ohio) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, in the men's javelin with marks of 155-5 (47.38m) and 148-0 (45.12m)
• Freshman Mya Kizer (Hammond, Wis.) placed fifth in the women's 5,000 meters in a career-best time of 18:11.19.
