Lakewood Ranch, Fla. – Akron sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) led the women's golf team at the Mid-American Match Play Challenge with a pair of wins as the Zips dropped a pair of matches to Central Michigan and Northern Illinois on Tuesday at the 6,068-yard, Par-72 Royal Lakes course at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

David posted an undefeated a 3-0 record and won her matches by a total of 12 holes for the tournament. David opened match play against Eastern Michigan's Anna Watson and posted a commanding 6&4 win as the Zips won the tiebreaker to advance against No. 1 seeded Central Michigan. The Zips fell 3-2 to CMU as David won her second match 5&4 against CMU's Casilda Allendesalazar, while junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) picked up the Zips second win, defeating Rachel Kauflin.

Akron dropped its final match of the tournament to Northern Illinois 3-1-1. David earned the Zips lone win over Jasmine Ly with a 1UP decision and Shah earned a tie.

Akron is scheduled to be back in action on Friday-Sunday, Feb. 25-27 at the Rio Verde White Wing Course or the Rio Verde Collegiate in Rio Verde, Arizona.
