RIO VERDE, Ariz. – Sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) tied for 30th overall at the Rio Verde Invitational while leading the Akron Zips women's golf team to a 12^th place finish 313-304-317 - 934 (+70) over the weekend.

David fired a 13-over par 79-73-77 – 229 tournament total at the Rio Verde Country Club's White Wing Golf Course, a par-72 that stretches 6,242 yards. She opened the 54-hole event with a 79 (+7) ledger on Friday and bounced back with a 1-over pard 73 performance on Saturday before closing out the event on Sunday with a 77 (+5) score.

Junior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) followed with a 233 (+17) to finish tied at 44^th on the player leaderboard on rounds of 76 (+4), 76 (+4) and 81 (+9). Rounding out the Zips' scoring was, sophomore Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) with an 85-85-81 – 251 (+35)

Kennesaw State won the team title with a 286-296-283 – 865 (+1), while the Owls Caitlyn Campbell (-5, 67-72-72 – 211) earned medalist honors by five strokes over Xavier runner-up Kara Carter (E, 72-69-75 - 216).

The Zips are scheduled to be back in action at the Spring Break shootout hosted by Western Kentucky and Florida Gulf Coast. The two-day, 54-hole event is slated to be played at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Dade City, Fla. on Monday and Tuesday, March 14-15.
