AKRON, Ohio - The University of Akron track and field team in its final tune-up before next week's Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships captured nine events as part of 25 overall top-three finishes at the Al Campbell Invitational on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Stile Athletics Field House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Senior Lindsey Scarton (Berea, Ohio) registered a career-best time of 9:56.14 to take the title in the women's 3,000 meters
• Sophomore Zarik Brown (Dayton, Ohio) won the men's 200 meters in a time of 21.54, while freshman Jack Weaver (Mt. Gilead, Ohio) placed second in career-best time of 21.78
• Weaver finished first in the men's 60 meters in a career-best time of 6.95
• Redshirt junior Milton Wilson (Streetsboro, Ohio), sophomore Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and redshirt junior Jacob Hutcherson (Uniontown, Ohio) went 1-2-3 in the men's weight throw recording marks of 61-4 (18.70m), 60-4 (18.41m) and 56-0 (17.07m)
• Junior Kassandra Roemer (Kaiserlautern, Germany) captured the women's long jump with a mark of 18-7.25 (5.67m)
• Sophomore Blake Lucius (Crestline, Ohio) and senior Jacob Ondash (Hiram, Ohio) took the top-two spots in the men's 800 meters crossing the line in 1:51.00 and 1:52.44, respectively
• Freshman Janay Bass (Akron, Ohio) bested the field in the women's 400 meters in a career-best time of 56.15
• Freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) placed second in the men's pole vault eclipsing 16-6 (5.03m)
• The Zips captured the top-three finishes in the men's long jump as sophomore Haruki Sakai (Katori, Japan), senior Jayce Shaffer (Lawrenceville, Ga.) and sophomore Caleb Mabins (Erie, Pa.) posted marks of 23-4.75 (7.13m), 23-4 (7.11m) and 23-0.50 (7.02m)
• Freshman Elijah Humphrey (Akron, Ohio) won the men's 60-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 8.25
• Freshman Adaeze Nwokike (Benin City, Nigeria) finished first in the women's 60-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 8.91
• Freshman Anna Altstadt (Huntingburg, Ind.) placed second in the women's 60 meters in a career-best time of 7.89
• Freshman Taylor Shriver (Waynesburg, Pa.) eclipsed 13-0.75 (3.98m) to win the women's pole vault

Akron honored 19 student-athletes competing in their final indoor meet as a Zip throughout the Al Campbell Invitational, including a special Senior Night recognition before the start of the meet.

• Sophomore Zarik Brown (Dayton, Ohio) won the men's 200 meters in a time of 21.54, while freshman Jack Weaver (Mt. Gilead, Ohio) placed second in career-best time of 21.78
• Weaver finished first in the men's 60 meters in a career-best time of 6.95
