Akron Duo Garners TDS Top-100 Postseason Honors

2022 TOPDRAWERSOCCER.COM MEN'S SOCCER TOP-100 UPPERCLASSMEN POSTSEASON LIST
AKRON, Ohio – University of Akron men's soccer sophomore Dyson Clapier (Layton, Utah) and junior Joel Sangwa (Phoenix, Ariz.) were recognized for their stellar campaigns when TopDrawerSoccer.com named its 2022 Men's National Top-100 Upperclassmen Postseason list.
Clapier was tabbed No. 19 on the postseason ranking after earlier being selected to its Best XI Second-Team squad, while Sangwa was rated No. 58 on the postseason list.
A United Soccer Coaches Third-Team All-America, Clapier was tabbed a First-Team All-Mid-American Conference honoree this fall for the first time after starting all 18 games he appeared in for Akron this fall en route to leading the team in assists (7), shots (38) and game-winners (3), while ranking second in goals (7), points (21) and shots on goal (19). Clapier rated third in the MAC in assists (.389), goals (.389), points (1.17) and game-winners (.167), fifth in shots on goal (1.06) and sixth in shots (2.11). In league-only games, he ranked fourth in assists (.625), sixth in points (1.13) and eighth in shots (1.63) per tilt.
Sangwa provided an immediate impact on the Zips in his first season at Akron starting all 20 games to help spark the squad's defensive unit to seven shutouts. He tallied four goals on the strength of eight shots, including four on goal, while netting a pair of game-winning goals.
Additionally, Clapier and Sangwa were honored by the Ohio Collegiate Soccer Association as First-Team All-Ohio selections.
