BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Akron Zips volleyball team fell 3-2 to Bowling Green as a trio of Zips registered double-digit kill performances at the Stroh Center on Friday Night.

Senior Teagan Ochaya led Akron's offensive efforts with 14 kills while earning 17.5 points. Ochaya recorded a solo block and three assisted stops and tallied a second-best 13 digs. Junior Lauren Latka anchored the Zips defense with 15 digs.

Junior Faith Johnson posted a team-best 18 points on 13 kills, four blocks and three of the Zips eight service aces, while junior Anne Lesure led the squad with four aces.

Sophomore Karleighana Jones rounded out the double-digit kill manufacturers, generating 12 kills on a team-high .476 hitting percentage (12 of 21). Jones added a team-best six blocks to finish with 15 points.

Bowling Green claimed the opening set 25-19, and the Zips retaliated with back-to-back wins in the second and third sets. Ochaya and Jones paced the offense with four kills each in the second frame en route to a 25-18 triumph. Ochaya followed with a team-best six kills and Johnson floored a second-best five kills to lead the Zips to a 25-21 win and a 2-1 set advantage. The Falcons evened the match with a 25-18 result in the fourth set and claimed the match with a 15-11 showing in the deciding set.

On Saturday, the two teams will meet again at the Stroh center. First serve is set for at 4 p.m.
