Akron Travels to Columbus for Dual Meet

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron swimming and diving team travels to No. 5 Ohio State for the second dual meet of the season at McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. Fans can follow the action live on BIG+ or Live Results

The Zips
Akron opened the season with a victory in the Akron Zips Classic led by junior Madelyn Gatrall, who set two meet standards and posted a pair of top times in the NCAA. Gatrall currently owns the fifth fastest time in the 100 Back (52.63) and ninth fastest 200 Back (1:55.44) NCAA times. The Zips followed with followed with a 165-134 victory over Mid-American Conference rival Buffalo. Akron won the last 6-of-7 events en route to the 31-point triumph, headlined by sweeping the top four positions in the 200-yard breaststroke. In addition, Sophomore Abigail Daniel earned MAC Swimmer of the Week. Daniel placed first in every event in the water, including a pair of relay touches for first and an individual gold medal. She was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team that posted a 1:42.09 winning time with her 23.90 butterfly time. She also swam the third-leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay, clocking a 51.34 en route to the team's 3:25.17 time. Daniel's individual winning performance came in the 100-yard butterfly as she posted a 54.72 time.
The Buckeyes
Ohio State opened the season with a 231.4-121.5 victory over No. 24 Virginia Tech. The squad posted several NCAA B cut times, including Big Ten Co-Swimmer of the Week Amy Fulmer's performance in the Fulmer 100 free (49.21) Others with NCAA B cut times were Felicia Pasadyn 400 IM (4:17.10) and 200 Back (1:57.04) as well as Josephine Panitz 100 Breast (1:00.48).
