AKRON, Ohio - The sixth-rated University of Akron rifle team travels to West Point, N.Y., this Saturday, Oct. 29, as the Zips square off against No. 16 Army and No. 19 North Carolina State in an 9 a.m. match.

The Zips will then test their mettle versus NC State in a 9 a.m. showdown on Sunday, Oct. 30. The encounter between Akron and the Golden Knights on Saturday and the Wolfpack on Sunday are Great American Rifle Conference matches.

Freshman Andrew Duross (Marlborough, Mass.) directs Akron with a team-best 1179.75 combined average this season on the strength of team-high marks in smallbore (587.75) and air rifle (592.00).

In the Zips' last match at No. 16 Morehead State on Oct. 15, Akron posted school-record scores in the combined rifle (4709) and smallbore (2339) in a 4709-4685 victory.

Scheduled to compete for Akron this weekend are Duross, sophomore Rachel Engels (Meridian, Idaho), freshman Jordyn Ewine (Buffalo, N.D.), senior Andre Gross (Webster, N.Y.), sophomore Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.), freshman Rachael Paddock (Perry, N.Y.), senior Katie Paltz (Edison, N.J.), junior Gavin Perkowski (Bolivar, Ohio), senior Jakob Rankin (Granbury, Texas), junior Erin Schnupp (Gorham, Maine), senior Brendan Seitz (Milford, Mass.), junior Samantha Shultz (Fort Wayne, Ind.), freshman Natalia Siek (Flemington, N.J.) and sophomore Cory Stroupe (Brasstown, N.C.).
