Akron’s Late Rally Comes Up Short Against Central Michigan

AKRON, Ohio – A late rally for the University of Akron football team came up short as Central Michigan withstood the Zips' charge to secure a 28-21 victory on Saturday, Oct. 15 at InfoCision Stadium.
Redshirt junior QB DJ Irons (Lawrenceville, Ga.) registered 255 yards through the air for Akron on 25-of-38 passing, including one touchdown, while also rushing for a 53-yard touchdown.
Redshirt junior WR Daniel George (Fort Washington, Md.) and senior WR Shocky Jacques-Louis (Fort Myers, Fla.) pulled in five catches apiece for the Zips for 77 and 70 yards, respectively. Jacques-Louis found the back of the endzone on a 14-yard touchdown strike from Irons in the third quarter.
Sophomore RB Clyde Price III (Kansas City, Mo.) did his damage through the air garnering a game-high seven catches for 39 yards, while rushing for a touchdown on 10 carries.
Defensively, the Zips were paced by a pair of double-digit tackle performances as senior LB Bubba Arslanian (Aurora, Ohio) and redshirt sophomore DB Jaden Woods (Decatur, Ga.) tallied 13 and 10 tackles, respectively. Arslanian posted five solo stops, eight assists, three tackles for a loss and one sack, while Woods tallied a career-high 10 tackles on three solo tackles and seven assists. Senior DE Zach Morton (Detroit, Mich.) carved out five tackles, including 2.5 tackles for a loss, one sack and a forced fumble, while senior LB Tim Terry (Pittsburgh, Pa.) added seven tackles.
