CLEVELAND, Ohio - The University of Akron football team earned 17 selections when the Mid-American Conference released its 2021 Football Academic All-MAC team on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

In all, 218 student-athletes from 12 conference institutions were honored including redshirt junior Jaylen Kelly-Powell (Detroit, Mich.), junior Charles Amankwaa (Hillsborough, N.J.), redshirt sophomores Kyle Bauman (North Royalton, Ohio), Zach DiLauro (Akron, Ohio), Logan Hawkins (Harrison City, Pa.) and Ethan Slike (Greensburg, Pa.), sophomore Michael Mathison (Covington, Ga.) and Julian Richardson (Albany, Ga.) and redshirt freshmen Ronan Chambers (Olmsted Township, Ohio), Tony Georges (Westlake, Ohio), Xavior Gray (Massillon, Ohio), Blake Hester (Ashland, Ky.), Shawn Naim (Brecksville, Ohio), Alex Robarge (Chagrin Falls, Ohio), Kyle Romenick (Fort Mill, S.C.), Corey Thomas, Jr. (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Nate Williams (Utica, Ohio).

To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests and/or completed at the league championship in the particular sport.
