AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips women's golf team opens the 2021-22 season at the Nittany Lion Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 4-5 hosted by Penn State in State College, Pa.

The 54-hole stroke play event at the 6,115-yard, Par-72 Penn State White Course features a 14-team field. On Saturday, the tournament is slated for 36 holes of continuous play followed by and 18-hole final round on Sunday.

Teams competing include: host Penn State. Akron, Boston College, Bucknell, Delaware, Georgetown, Harvard, James Madison, Penn, Princeton, Rutgers, Seton Hall, Towson and Youngstown State.

Akron returns the entire roster from last season, including senior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio), junior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio), junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India), sophomore Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio), sophomore Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio), sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio). The Zips have also added a newcomer in graduate transfer Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky.).

Akron's starting five consists of: David (1), Hahn (2), Pikunas (3), Phillips (4) and Shah (5). In addition, Pearce will be competing as an individual.
