Thirteen Zips Garner Women’s Academic All-MAC Outdoor Track and Field Honors

2021 ACADEMIC ALL-MAC OUTDOOR TRACK AND FIELD RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The University of Akron women's outdoor track and field team earned 13 selections when the Mid-American Conference released its 2021 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Academic All-MAC team on Thursday, Aug. 12.
In all, 191 student-athletes from 12 conference institutions were honored including seniors Weronika Grzelak (Walbrzych, Poland), Varvara Lissichkina (Karaganda, Kazahkstan), Hannah Long (Pacific, Mo.) and Lindsey Scarton (Berea, Ohio), Emily Taylor (Mount Perry, Ohio) and Alyssa Thomas (Uniontown, Ohio), redshirt junior Abby Helminiak (Toledo, Ohio), juniors Zoi Balamouti (Heraklion, Greece), Sara Foster (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), Lizzy Gurko (Northfield, Ohio), Kassandra Roemer (Kaiserlautern, Germany) and Carlyn Zahner (North East, Pa.) and redshirt freshman Gabrielle McDaniel (Gnadenhutten, Ohio).
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests and/or completed at the league championship in the particular sport.
