Hochbein Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's track and field senior Brandon Hochbein (Sarver, Pa.) has been selected to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Districtâ„¢ Men's Track and Field/Cross Country Team.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).

Hochbein graduated from Akron in May of 2020 earning a bachelor's degree in emergency management and homeland security on the strength of a 3.76 cumulative GPA and currently boasts a 3.95 graduate school GPA majoring in sport science/coaching.

A two-time Mid-American Conference Champion and three-time All-MAC honoree in the multis, Hochbein captured the men's MAC heptathlon and decathlon crowns in 2021. A seven-time Academic All-MAC selection, he won the 2021 decathlon title at the league championship meet in May with a personal-best score of 7,071. He also took home the men's heptathlon title at 2021 MAC Indoors with a score of 5,245. Additionally, he placed second in decathlon at 2019 MAC Outdoor Championships.

Hochbein now moves to the national ballot for consideration for CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades. The national teams will be unveiled on Aug. 12.
