Strachan Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's soccer senior Daniel Strachan (Lakewood, Ohio) has been selected to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Districtâ„¢ Men's Soccer Team.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. Nominated athletes must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games at the position listed on the nomination form (where applicable).

Strachan graduated from Akron in December of 2020 earning a bachelor's degree in business administration on the strength of a 3.65 cumulative GPA and recently completed his first semester in graduate school where he is majoring in business.

A team captain and the only Zip to start all 10 games, Strachan earned all-Mid-American Conference accolades for the second consecutive year, as he was tabbed a Second-Team All-MAC honoree. A versatile player that sparked the Zips both sides of the ball on the campaign, Strachan ranked second on the squad in goals (2) and points (5) and third in assists (1) on the strength of four shots, with two of those strike falling on frame. He ranked eighth in the conference in goals per game (0.25) in league-only affairs.

Strachan now moves to the national ballot for consideration for CoSIDA Academic All-America accolades. The national teams will be unveiled on July 5.
