ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Akron track and field team captured one victory as part of nine overall top-three performances on the final day of the Spec Towns Invitational hosted by Georgia on Saturday, April 10.
A day after besting the field in the women's 200 meters (24.07), junior Amya Clarke (Christ Church, St. Kitts and Nevis) won the women's 100 meters in a time of 11.83.
Junior Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio) placed second in the men's 100 meters in a time of 10.43, while redshirt sophomore Charles Sanders (Cincinnati, Ohio) crossed the line second in the men's 400 meters posting a time of 48.35.
Earning third-place performances were juniors Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) in the men's high jump (6-9.50/2.07m), Jacob Hutcherson (Uniontown, Oho) in the men's shot put (47-3.75/14.42m) and junior Kyra Keurentjes (Wehl, The Netherland) in the women's 800 meters (2:10.26) and senior Jace Roundtree (Vandergrift, Pa.) in the men's 110-meter hurdles (14.72).
Akron returns to competition at the Roadrunner Invitational in San Antonio, Texas next Friday and Saturday, April 16-17.
