MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron women's lacrosse freshman GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Thursday, March 4.
Lapp turned in a strong start to her collegiate career registering 20 saves for the Zips en route to leading Akron to a 1-1 mark a week ago.
In her collegiate debut in goal, Lapp notched a match-high 10 saves in nearly 42 minutes (41:34) of action in a 16-8 setback versus Gardner-Webb on Feb. 26.
In her first collegiate start in goal at Saint Francis on Feb. 28, Lapp notched 10 saves, including three in the second half, to help the Zips hold on for the first-ever victory in program history.
Akron returns to action hosting Youngstown State in a 3 p.m. match on Friday, March 5 at InfoCision Stadium - Summa Field.
