AKRON, Ohio – Day two of the Akron Last Chance Meet saw five Zips' swimmers post seven NCAA B-Cut (D1 B) times as juniors Sarah Watson (Winnipeg, Manitoba) and Andrea Fischer (Oak Grove, Minn.) achieved two NCAA B-Cut times each, while senior Paula Garcia (Madrid, Spain), junior Olivia Gardner (Bromsgrove, England) and freshmen Madelyn Gatrall (Windsor, Canada) along with several season best and personal best performances on Saturday.

Watson posted a pair of D1 B times in the 100 Yard Butterfly, posting a season-best 52.07 time in the prelims. In the finals, Watson stopped the timer at 52.61 which also faster than the NCAA standard, 53.76.

The 100 Yard Breaststroke witnessed three NCAA B-Cut performances by Fischer and Garcia. Fischer posted two D1 B times, starting with a 1:01.36 time, just shy of a personal best (1:01.05). She followed with a career-best 1:00.93. Joining Fischer with a time faster than 1:01.84 was Garcia, who swam a 1:01.82 and owns a personal best 1:00.51.

Gatrall followed with a 53.88 for the win in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Although her time fell just shy of her top-time, 53.64, it was fast enough to best the NCAA standard, 53.94. Rounding out the NCAA B-Cut performances was Gardner's 4:17.04 effort which was a personal best by more than 2.5 seconds, 4:19.63, in the 400 Yard Individual Medley. The 400 IM also produced a personal best time for freshman Giovanna Cappabianca (Hudson, Ohio) with a 4:24.72.

 In the 200 Yard Medley Relay the Zips claimed the top two spots as junior Lauren Cooper (Dublin, Ohio), Garcia, Watson and sophomore Victoria Kaufman (Westminster, Md.) just off their seed time (1:38.33) with a 1:39.15 for the win.

The runner-up squad of Gatrall, Fischer, freshman Rachel Sabotin (Columbus, Ind.) and sophomore Rachel Schiffli (Indianapolis, Ind.) raced to a team-best 1:40.29 besting their previous time of 1:43.00. Schiffli added a personal best performance 50.34 in the 100 Free.

Sophomore Gail Workman (Cincinnati, Ohio) captured two personal best times in the 500 Yard Freestyle, clocking times of 4:56.67 and 4:53.75. Workman also set a PR time 54.02 in the 100 Back.

The session ended with Sabotin, Gorecka, Gatrall and sophomore Olivia Derodes (Fremont, Ohio) setting a squad-best 1:34.12 time.
